DAFCA Selects Concept Engineering's Nlview® Visualization Engine to Build a Graphical Debugging Cockpit

FREIBURG, Germany – May 30, 2007 – Concept Engineering today announced that DAFCA, Inc., the leading vendor of on-chip reconfigurable infrastructure and tools for in-system, at-speed silicon validation, has selected Concept Engineering's Nlview® visualization engine to build a graphical debugging cockpit for its ClearBlue™ Silicon Validation Platform. Integrated into the DAFCA tool environment, the Nlview engine automatically generates schematic diagrams showing the instrumentation intellectual property (IP) and making it easy for design engineers to understand and configure the instrumentation infrastructure.

"Concept Engineering's Nlview engine gives our software development team great reliability, flexibility and performance," said Peter L. Levin, president and CEO of DAFCA. "DAFCA prides itself on being a good neighbor on the die, and this integration will help our customers to address the post-silicon validation challenges of nano-era semiconductor product design."

DAFCA addresses the limitations of traditional post-silicon diagnosis and debug by placing compact reconfigurable instruments on the chip during the pre-silicon design phase. These instruments provide engineers with the ability to observe, discover, and diagnose at-speed, in-silicon functional behavior during post-silicon bring-up and evaluation. Rather than diverting R&D resources to developing visual debugging capabilities in-house, DAFCA assessed alternatives on the market and entered into a worldwide OEM license for Concept Engineering's Nlview visualization engine for the wxWidgets GUI development platform.

Nlview Widgets are a family of automatic schematic generation and viewing software components (GUI building blocks) that can be easily used and customized within the most popular GUI development environments such as Tcl/Tk, Qt, Java, MFC, wxWidgets and Perl/Tk. Using Nlview Widgets, software teams can realize GUIs for electronic design automation (EDA) tools with shorter design cycles and lower development and maintenance cost.

"DAFCA offers a unique solution that reduces the time between first silicon availability and volume production. We are proud to have been selected to provide advanced visualization technology for the new DAFCA Silicon Validation Platform," said Gerhard Angst, president and CEO of Concept Engineering.

Concept Engineering will be hosting product demonstrations at the 44th Design Automation Conference (DAC 2007) in San Diego, California, from June 4 through June 7, 2007 at booth 5869.

About Concept Engineering

Concept Engineering is a privately held company based in Freiburg, Germany, founded in 1990 to develop and market innovative schematic generation and viewing technology for use with logic synthesis, verification, test automation and physical design tools. The company's customers are primarily original equipment EDA tool manufacturers (OEMs), in-house CAD tool developers and semiconductor companies. For more information see www.concept.de.

About DAFCA, Inc.

DAFCA is an EDA software company focused on post-silicon SoC validation, debug, and in-system bring-up. DAFCA's tools allow design teams to seamlessly incorporate patented, compact and silicon-proven reconfigurable instrumentation IP into their devices, pre-silicon, in order to observe, discover, and diagnose at-speed, in-silicon functional behavior. Physical device validation and debug is the most expensive and unpredictable stage of design implementation; DAFCA tools provide on-chip visibility, which leads to dramatically lower development and integration costs.
